Pacem in Terris / Peace on Earth
Your opportunity to further the cause of peace with justice
Our Mission
Pacem in Terris is a non-profit organization that strives to facilitate the active participation of people and organizations on the Delmarva Peninsula, especially the religious community, on the issues and projects relevant to the quest for peace and justice throughout the world. Through seminars, activities, and experiences, we seek to change community attitudes and help people understand that peace is not a dream, but a necessity, now and in the future.
Our Programs and Activities
Founded in Wilmington in 1967, Delaware Pacem in Terris's programs can be grouped under the following headings:
1. International Peace and Reconciliation
2. Peace in Our Communities and at Home
3. Restorative justice
These programs involve the following sorts of activities:
- Public education lectures and workshops led by domestic and international peacemakers;
- A film series that addresses such topics as the war on terrorism and economic justice;
- The Soweto Festival, an annual art exhibition that celebrates the triumph of the human spirit;
- Consulting services to faith-based organizations, social services agencies, schools, and the media;
- Local anti-war rallies and vigils, and transportation to regional anti-war demonstrations;
- Tabling at community events.
